New Caprivi hunting area: Impalila Island
Vaughan just emailed to announce that Classic Safaris has signed with a new hunting area in the Caprivi Strip, Impalila Island. Pictured above at the signing from L-R are the boat taxi driver, the Senior Induna (or mayor) of Impalila, the Chairperson of the conservancy, and Vaughan Fulton.
This is another communal conservancy, where conservation is supported by hunting and tourism activities of the local people.

New in the Classic Safaris fleet
Vaughan sent me this news flash today,
Built our own boat, and tested it two weeks ago, the upper deck with roof top tent will be finished today. Here's the first picture he shared:
Houseboats are sometimes used when buffalo hunting in the Kasika Conservancy. It's an extreme floodplain with few roads but lots of channels. The boats make a movable, high quality camp.

New plains game featured package
For 2008, we have a new featured hunt, the Plains Game Package. Of course, all the details are on the feature page, but I also wanted to announce it here!
This is a ten day package, including 1 Oryx (Gemsbok), 1 Springbok and 1 Hartmann's Zebra. It is 2x1, or two hunters with one professional hunter, for $ 4425.00 per hunter.
If this will be your first time, this package can be an introduction to African safaris. For seasoned African hunters, you can use these to customize your safari. You may add days and hunt additional species at the standard rates you'll find on the Safari Prices list.
You may also bring along an observer, or nonhunter, for $125 per day.
These plains game hunts are conducted out of our tented camp in the Tsiseb Conservancy, Namibia.
Hunts with this package may be scheduled during the 2008 season.
Thanks to Client Jim Riley for the photo of Tsiseb Conservancy.

Vaughan sent this quick update:
We have put in solar energy for lights and refrigeration. The lighting now gives clients light to use at the flip of a switch all night long. There is also less noise disturbance due to this.

New photos from Tsiseb
Earlier this year, Jorge400 hunted with Vaughan Fulton and Classic Safaris. Part of his hunt was on the new Tsiseb Conservancy. Jorge posted a few photos of the new camp at Tsiseb on Accurate Reloading and kindly allowed me to use them here, as well.
